Presidents' Day/ Weird, but True

Sun., Feb. 20: Ready for church

Presidents, Weird, but True!!(Stay tuned for my photo diary of today at the end!)

John Adams – Adams and his family wandered aimlessly in the woods for hours before finally finding their way to their new home at the White House.

James Madison – Weighing in at a lean 100 pounds, this 5 foot 4 inch tall president was the country’s shortest president.

William Howard Taft – Weighing over 300 pounds, Taft holds the undesirable distinction of being the heaviest U.S. president. Embarrassingly, Taft once got stuck in the White House bathtub. To avoid a repeat of the awkward fiasco, a new tub – four times the normal size – was installed.

William Henry Harrison – This long-winded politician gave the longest inaugural address in history while standing in inclement weather without an overcoat or hat. He died of pneumonia a month later.

Woodrow Wilson – Sheep were raised for wool on the White House lawn during Wilson’s term.

Herbert Hoover – Hoover donated his salary to charity.

Grover Cleveland – Cleveland was known for personally answering incoming phone calls to the White House.

I got these facts from http://www.farmersalmanac.com/blog/2009/02/01/hail-to-the-bizarre-weird-presidential-trivia/

Let's see if you know some other interesting facts about presidents............

1.  Do you  know the three presidents who died on July 4th?

John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe

2.  Do you know the four presidents who were assassinated while in office?

Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, and Kennedy

3.  Do you know which president was elected unanimously twice?

George Washington

4.  Did you know that the plan was to kill two other people the night Lincoln was assassinated?

Two other people were in on the plot, one person stabbed Lincoln's secretary of state, William Seward, in his own home. Another assassin had planned to kill the vice-president, but he got drunk and "chickened" out.  I learned about this in a book that I read.  I can't remember the name of the book.

I'm sitting here on Monday night enjoying a guilty pleasure.  I'm not ashamed to admit it................I'm watching "The Bachelor".  I find reality TV to be a great break from reality.  It doesn't take much concentration to watch.  I can work on this blog or get on FB and it doesn't matter too much.

Monday, Feb. 21 President's Day

I had the house to myself and I worked on my on-line course, hung up clothes and cleaned out and straightened my closet.   (All I can say is......My closet needed it!!!!!!)

Then it was.................Errand Time!!

Bye Cocoa!! I always have to leave treats around the house when I leave.

Cleaning out and organizing the closet meant.......I had things to take to Goodwill.

Haha, you're in school and I'm not!!! ;o)

I already had a box of things that I needed to send my son in Afghanistan.  He wanted a memory foam cushion and I had an assortment of other goodies for him. (beef jerky, packets of tuna, gum, protein bars, as well as some other stuff.)

Lots of people were at Lowes today.  I guess it was the spring-like weather.  I was needing a cover for some deck furniture and vacuum cleaner bags.  I look at kitchen counter tops and got very confused by all of the choices.

Bingo! Chair covers

I love this outdoor furniture.

I don't know if it was because so many of the soldiers have gotten home, but the traffic was crazy in Clarksville today!!!

I had a return to make here.  I enjoyed looking around.

Traffic everywhere!

I was running into traffic everywhere.  I wanted to head to the Y to work out and I went down Warfield Blvd. and low and behold the police were blocking the road and diverting traffic another direction.  I had to make a big circle around town.  Afterwards, I ran into more traffic.  I found out on the news that a man had fallen asleep, flipped his car and it caught on fire.  He was okay.  They said that because he was asleep it probably helped him survive.

Well, it's back to work tomorrow!  I hope you have had a great day!!!

Oh, I almost forgot.  I bought my  plane ticket to Honduras!!!  I had plenty of money in my Honduras account to cover the $725!!  God is good  all of the time and I want to thank all of you for your support and encouragement!!

Another picture to remind us that warm weather is right around the corner!

Until next time!
xoxo
