Playing Hookie/Saying Good-bye

On Thursday evening after school, I meet the hubby at our favorite sushi restaurant.
We had planned to treat my son, but he was at the movies with
a friend.

Thursday, Feb. 17:  Full moon, the kids in my class have continued to be bonkers.  I had one child smack another child in the face.  I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself!  It had been a wild and stressful week, so I met the hubby at Kori, our favorite local sushi restaurant.  Here's a link to a coupon.

Friday, Feb. 18:  I took a personal day because this was my son's last day and we had to take him to the airport. :0(  So, it was like I was playing "hookie". Some of you "young-uns" out there probably  haven't heard of that expression.  I actually took a personal day.

Heading to the Y, the temps. were in the 60s!!  Spring-time, here we come!!!

My Y

The Y now has machines that you can hook your IPod into.  I can listen to my own play lists and when I finish working out I can upload my workout to my computer. (I haven't done that yet though.)

I had a nice run.  I had lots more energy at 10:30 am than I do when I go after school.

This is a view inside the Y.  The pic isn't so great.  I had the flash off because I felt funny taking a picture. I'm taking so many pictures now, that I'm getting over that!

I had to have a "Hookie Day" treat.  This served as my lunch.  I had a venti caramel frappuccino* light.  (*I always forget how to spell that!)

Errand:  Here I was going to my bank to make a deposit to my Honduras account.  I deposited over 150+ $$$.  The money was from the sales I made at school and the Peddlers' Mall.  Hallelujah!

Here is my "baby" asleep on the couch.  He was wiped out after spending a night out with a friend.

Here's one of Friday's pictures.  I'm ready to head to Nashville to take my son to the airport.  :(

Crisis Averted:  My son was activating his world cellular plan.  He had recently gotten out of his  old contract because the data plan was so expensive. He had switched to a better plan.   The person on the phone tried to say that it wasn't available in Afghanistan, even though that was the plan that was sold to him.  (He even had broken his old contract and paid the penalties.)  Fortunately, they "grandfathered" him in after spending 30 min. on the phone with
them.  This was done in the last few minutes before
getting to the airport.

Checking in at the airport.

Silly self-portrait while we wait for him to check-in.

He had warned that he didn't want us to take pictures, but he let us.  We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bye!!!! We love you so much & we are proud of you!!!

We had gift cards for PF Changs, but it was close to the evening rush hour and the hubby didn't want to travel across town.  We tried a Thai restaurant near Opry Mills, but it was closed, so..........how about Cracker Barrel?????

Friday night:  I'm working on this blog and watching some Oprahs that I've recorded on my DVR.  I'm listening to a disturbing episode about children with bi-polar disorders.  These symptoms sound too familiar.  Our families at Ft. C. deal with stress every day and it really affects the children.  :(  (Affect/Effect, I always get these mixed up!)

Random Change of Topic:  I had ordered a CD of a new group and we listened to it.  This group is from English, but they sound strangely Irish.  My son and I liked it, I don't think the hubby did.  Here's a link to a couple of their songs.

Mumford & Sons  Little Lion Man (Warning: There is one curse word.)

Saturday, Feb. 19:  If you know me well, you know that I have been watching my weight since I was a teenager.  I exercise and try to eat right to be healthy and look my best.  If you are close to my age, you know it gets harder and harder with each year.  Well, this is it, I'm getting back on the "eat right, get serious" wagon!!!   BUT FIRST.........

Breakfast at IHop  (I have found a healthy option on the menu.  It's the veggie omelet on the *healthy menu and the harvest nut grain pancakes with sugar-free syrup.)

10:30 Zumba!!!

Saturday errands:

I really need to buy stock in this company.

Lots of inspiration

Chilly and gray Saturday

After running some errands, the hubby called me about having lunch.  We decided to go downtown.  Clarksville really has some nice sandwich shops, restaurants and quaint shops downtown.

I also wanted to check out some silver rings that a lady I met had made.  My son had got me some semi-precious stones in Afghanistan and I'm considering having some of them made into rings.

A lot of us in Clarksville forget about how much fun downtown Clarksville is!! Of course, I'm there every Saturday all through the summer, but I don't usually hang around and go to the shops.  Check out some of the the neat shops that I visited today:

You may have forgotten that much of downtown Clarksville was destroyed in a tornado January 1999.  This is one of the new buildings.

Good Deal Alert:  If you haven't heard about the coupon books that the schools are selling, you are missing out.  It cost $20 and it is full of coupons.  We have already made our money back using coupons at Hananoki, Dick's Sporting Goods, Berry Bear Yogurt, and today, Front Page Deli.
Front Page Deli

My turkey Reuben (sp?) was free with my coupon and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!

Betty's Antiques:  This was a neat shop.  I really like the way everything was styled!

Artifacts:  This is a shop where different artisans rent small spaces and sell their handmade products. (jewelry, necklaces, tutus, clothing, photography, etc.)  They also have some antiques, glassware and other cool stuff.

This is actually the entrance to Hodgepodge.  I just walked out of Artifacts.
Artifacts is located on Strawberry Alley.  Strawberry Alley is a street in Clarksville that has been redone by the Clarksville Urban Redevelopment.  In the summer, they have bands and it's called "Jammin' in the Alley".  There are cobble stoned streets and a gorgeous fountain.

Hodgepodge is another cool shop downtown.  There is a combination of new and antique items.  Lots of neat ideas for decorating your house.

Saturday night:  I am moonlighting at my second job.  What job, you ask????? You know, I'm writing this blog!

Hubby and I decided to use another coupon from our booklet.  Clarksville has had a rash of yogurt places pop up.  They are all good.  You serve yourself, they are all low-fat and they have tons of toppings and you pay by the ounce.

We also got our weekly Wal-mart shopping out of the way. And as Martha Stewart says, ..................................................

"That's a good thing!"

We've seen our son's updates on Facebook.  He has made it to Kuwait in less than 24 hours.  Now, he has to wait for a flight back to Afghanistan.  I appreciate all of your prayers so far and ask that you will continue to pray for his safe travels.

This weekend has been great so far, and I still have Sunday and Monday!  I hope you have a great President's Day!!

Until next time!!!!
xoxo

Praying Lucas gets back okay! It's hard when everyone is spread out so far--our family is too.

    Have a great day off!
